Tangerine Bank payouts - for those who are successfully linkex

Hello all,

I’ve read some pretty galling horror stories about Payouts to Tangerine Bank, which I wish I read before I initiated my own. However, most issues I find are with people linking the bank to begin with.

For those who DO have successfully linked Tangerine bank accounts for payouts, have your payouts typically been unaffected?

I don’t sell often on eBay and recently changed my bank to Tangerine. I successfully set it up no problem, and used it for seller fees. I just initiated my first payout to this account (seller initiated manual payout) this morning and the status on eBay says it is SENT. At this point, has anyone had any issues with payments being successfully sent but then being rejected by tangerine - even though it was linked properly?

My old bank account for payouts typically would have the funds deposited within 2-3 hours of me initiating the payout. Today it’s been about five hours and nothing has dropped in Tangerine. So just wanted some clarity if I should expect any issues because at this point other than it being longer than in the past by a few hours everything looks normal… but the posts here about Tangerine are concerning.

Customer payments are usually transferred on Tuesdays unless you had opted for daily or monthly transfers.

No lol. I initiate manual payouts (ie eBay doesn’t automatically pay me out, I trigger them manually which is an option). Typically from the time I do this it has been within 3 hours that the funds are in my account from when eBay says they are sent.

My question was more framed specifically for my bank in question since I’ve read here many users having issues with Tangerine, but also many saying they don’t have any. From what I can tell, it seems most people have issues linking it, but if it’s successfully linked I’ve seen people say it pays out just fine. I was just wanting to confirm if anyone had Tangerine actually REJECT a payment sent by eBay for any reason, and approximately the timeframe for the funds to appear with this specific bank. That’s all.

The issue with Tangerine was discovered last summer, I believe.  The Tangerine account terms state that their chequing accounts are for personal use only, and may be closed if it's discovered that they're being used for business purposes.  And their business accounts are intended as secondary savings accounts, so they won't work with eBay's Managed Payments system, either.

What you're likely seeing is users who have used their Tangerine chequing accounts for eBay until Tangerine discovered that all those deposits they were getting were business-related, and stopped further deposits from eBay as a result.

And you’ll probably continue to receive deposits for a while until they mysteriously stop working. Good luck.
