Not the point. Wenig has eliminated the Donahoe regime. The hangover from the damage Donahoe did will take a while to get over.

Donahoe surrounded himself with business school experts, all about corporate value maximization.

Wenig is surrounding himself with retail talent. Donahoe wanted higher share values, Wenig stated "I want 100 million new buyers and even then I will not be satisfied".

Sorry, but it is the same point, just different players. Ebay still wants business to consumer to complete with Amazon and Walmart, and are going to slowly weed out consumer to consumer sellers.

Read the US boards as well.

Writing is on the wall but eyes need to be opened, larger stores, very few listing specials to get more stores opened, noticeable decline in used sales, especially clothing and collectibles. That is all over the boards from seller that have been around for 15 or more years,

Ebay wants out of the used and into the new, except for last years cell phones of course.

They want less issues between buyers and sellers as far as INAD claims which most are in used and clothing. They want shiny new merchandise like the other millions of sites out there. That is who Ebay wants to compete with, not the garage sale sellers.

And another point in business, it is very common when the CEO is replaced, that the new one gets rid of everybody and replaces them with who they want.

More yes men and women for the new CEO that are happy to have a job and pay check.

Wenig is from the old regime and will keep doing the same with Ebay, he just goes about it differently.

You may believe what he spews out, but many of us do not

Wenig was president of eBay 2011-2015.  He brought 5 years of eBay experience with him when he was appointed CEO in 2015. In the year that he has been at the top  of the helm, things went from bad to worse.  Search  is a mess, visibility is at an all time low and sale prices have dropped drastically.

Its not enough to "want 100 million new buyers", you need to know how to attract them.  To start:

1) make items more visible by doing away with "rolling blackouts",

2) fix search,

3) Do away with "Best Match" as Default Search

4) stop ripping off purchasers with Global Shipping charges

5) Treat all sellers with RESPECT and EQUAL

And to your list I would add:  Fix the blasted checkout/cart system so it works across all your sites!

Who would design an online selling venue that makes it less than easy and seamless for buyers to buy and pay (or at least not fix a broken one)?  Oh yes -- eBay.  Apparently they have not considered that a priority.

In the end, eBay will do what eBay will do.  We "little people" either have to submit (as long as we can still make a profit), or decamp.  Maybe that's what eBay really wants, but I've given up trying to second guess this company's longer-term purposes and direction.  What comes out of the mouths of CEOs is not often what comes out of the Seller Updates.

Well, after reading the article, I'm not sure I'm impressed with this:

"Prior to joining eBay, Kupbens was Vice President of Online Retail at Apple, and he spent eight years at Target in a variety of roles and organizations, from distribution to technology to ecommerce."

Hopefully he won't be repeating another disastrous miscalculation like the one Target made in going into Canada.

Fixing the shopping cart system would require a) people who know how to design applications and b) people who can code them. It is much easier to tinker with simple pages making them less functional by removing a link or two and move a few elements around. And maybe change a font.
