Ebay did not have to get rid of Canada Post. I suspect there is MORE at work here.

They could have left them on as a shipping choice.  Right now, the process is, you print a Canada Post customs document (from Canada Post) go to the post office, they can the custom's doc. barcode THEN you provide the Zonos app. barcode, they scan it, and generate the shipping label.  Ebay creates the shipping label, but just like Canada Post's customs doc, it's not going anywhere without the Zonos barcode.  What has changed, that Ebay "can't do?"  The billing for duties/tariffs is done by Zonos, not Ebay.  This is why I think there is more here than Ebay is saying.  By jettisoning them, Ebay has just created more work for the seller since they now have to create a Canada Post Customs document, which they didn't before.

It’s possible eBay has signed an agreement with another pre-pay processor and that agreement gives that processing company exclusivity. Or maybe eBay is developing its own pre-pay processing system, like Managed Payments.

Edit to add: Sorry I meant when eBay creates it's Canadian GSP. Maybe they've signed exclusive rights with another pre-pay processor, or they're creating their own system like they did when they implemented  Managed Payments.

I mean, I understand why they did it. Canada Post didn't deploy their Zonos-collaboration option until basically the 11th hour. eBay didn't want to risk dealing with any angry customers complaining about refused packages so they decided to just remove the ability to print labels.

Yes, there is a solution now with Zonos. But it still takes time and resources (and a team of software developers) to re-code the entire eBay Labels shipping platform to accommodate the new Declaration ID requirements. And if I had to imagine, servicing the Canadian eBay Labels platform is probably pretty low on eBay's priority list (not to mention the fact that they're likely working pretty hard to get the Canadian eIS up and running, which is going to take higher priority over getting US Canada Post shipping labels turned back on). I do hope they get it back up and running soon though - the discounted Tracked Packet rates are nice.

Not defending eBay or anything, but I understand the reality of the situation.

Canada Post could do something to help out thousands of struggling small businesses - give eBay sellers the same discount eBay was giving us through their native label platform. Actually they should be giving deep discounts to ANY small business wanting to use their labels for Pete's sake.

They do give discounts to anyone signed up for their Solutions for Small Business program.

No need to be a business either.

The discounts are not as generous as those contracted by eBay but they do exist.
