Fake (?) call from eBay?

I think it's a spam call but this is actually the first time I received a call from anything claiming to be eBay. I didn't answer (call display said eBay) but thought I should post here to give people a heads up...

The number was 385-276-4900 and this was at noon PDT. Just curious if anyone got a similar call at similar time of the day?

I've seen several people report recently being called by ebay ageents about joining EIS, or why they opted out.

Yeah, if you opted out of EIS then they've been calling sellers just to try and understand their position better. I've heard anecdotes of this as well.

If you haven't opted out of EIS then it was probably just to talk to you about EIS - they've been trying to get some engagement with sellers regarding the new program.

They called me. I should have told them it's because I sell coins and stamps, but instead I went on with how Stallion works to get my items across the border painlessly (and how cheap shipping is to the UK when shipped with Stallion).

I was caught off guard and didn't believe it was really eBay until they pointed out I took their survey and opted out of eIS, then I knew the call was real.

I'm a little skeptical, my "bank" called saying they were from the fraud department and caught an etransfer someone was trying to send, I was suspicious, just said I didn't send an etransfer. They asked for some information to verify and I said "no you can't ask me anything, I don't know if you're really the bank" and they hung up on me. (Tonight I watched Identity Thief where they went through that whole process to ask questions to impersonate... pretty funny the trick the thief pulled was not much different than what the "bank" tried on me).

I hope the "bank" calls me back... I was caught of guard and at work when they called the first time, but next time they call I'm going to toy with the scammer's head and waste their time. Problem is I don't answer the phone very much if I don't recognize the number (unless I'm waiting for a call from a contractor or business, and am not sure what number will be calling).

The fact the "bank" had questioned my use of my account when I said "I don't really use it" (like they didn't know if I used it or not, when they should know that if they're the real bank calling me), was kind of a red flag. I wanted to get back to doing my job so I just said "I don't know if you're really calling from the bank". Next time I'll know it's not the bank and pretend to go along with it just to see what will happen (but not actually give them any information, just stay on the phone for a while and waste time).

Scammers don't reach me very often which is kind of disappointing (from the perspective of being entertained)... I really like the youtube videos of people toying with the scammers.

Re: Fake (?) call from eBay?

Ah, I did opt out of EIS. But I'm not interested in talking to them about it atm as I'm just waiting to see how the Canada Post situation resolves... Next week mail service is resuming so I'll just stick with the CP shipping labels as I don't want my parcels to go through a "middleman" shipping like EIS.

The last one I got (wasn't a bank) they asked me how my day was, I said it was great until scammers started calling me... he started to ask how I knew ZAP and was cut off so don't know if it was him or his sup that cut him off.... that made me feel good 😁

I get calls from Bell all the time (I don't think it's really Bell, they are my cell/internet provider). When I get mad and say "you just called me two hours ago" they hang up. The callers always have an accent and tell me they need information to access my account and give me a promotion. I said if they knew who I am because they called me, just put the promotion on my account and give me the discount. Then they hang up on me. The callers never know my name, so that's another clue it's not really Bell, as a Bell customer you'd think they'd know who they are calling.

I get calls from "Rogers" as well, I don't have an account with Rogers, so I just hang up the phone. Generally I have no patience to talk to scammers because they always call when I'm trying to do something else. They never seem to catch me when I have time to waste talking to them.

They don't get that far... I hear the call centre noise in the background and hang up right away.
