I've started taking pics at the Post Office of the UR/CA tracking numbers for untracked small packets to the US. Being skeptical, i was unwilling to enter the tracking numbers after i shipped the item, in case it didn't show anything and the buyer would think i hadn't actually shipped anything. But i needed to be able to follow the tracking, somehow and it's only visible on Ebay.
So what i did was enter the tracking number in other items that sold weeks ago and for which i got positive feedback, so i knew the item had arrived and the buyer probably wouldn't bother to be checking the tracking (which didn't apply to his item). I know of no other way to follow the tracking as it can only be seen on Ebay.
Anyway, my 2 experiments were a great success as tracking in both cases was there, step by step including delivery. Yippie! The problem now is i can't delete the tracking numbers from the listings i attached them to, nor can i add the tracking to the items where they belong. I guess Ebay blocks doing this?
However, that is not really my question....that was just an experiment. Now that i trust the UR tracking will work, i am still unsure when to add it. If i add it when i ship, which is usuallly next business day, nothing will show up for days with the tracking until it gets its first scan in the US and the buyer will think i took several days to ship the item.
So do i wait 5 or 6 days before uploading the UR tracking number? To sellers who use this, what are your tactics for using the UR tracking numbers?
