Anyone have experience with Ebay related Fedex and UPS shipping rather than Canadapost

I recently received an ebay notice about a fedex shipping offer.

After doing a big of digging, I see there is a UPS discount program for powersellers.

Does anyone shipping from Canada have experience with either of the above?

I ship UPS every now and then via a UPS store when a package is too large for Canadapost, but I've never had my own account.

I do know that last time I tried to include UPS as a shipping option in the ebay.ca rate calcuator, even though UPS options were included in the drop down list, the ebay listing would not accept them.    When I called ebay for help, I was told for ebay to use the canadapost rate calculator, they had to block other shipping options from being used - no idea if this is still the case.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated - particularly with regard to how it these ebay related fedex and ups discounted rated ultimately compare to Canadapost, and if you can get insurance (loss) from UPS or fedex, similar to that available from Canadapost.

There are a couple of discussions of this on the Seller boards.

The option does not seem to be all that helpful, especially for items over $200, which is where US customers would be paying US tax and duty plus a hefty brokerage fee on their doorstep, unexpectedly, or the deliveryman won't hand over the parcel.

Thanks for that, now that I think about it, that would be a major difficulty.

After sitting for 3 days waiting for the UPS dude to actually knock on my door loud enough to get my attention, (the second day I hovered near the front door all day) paying him the duty on the import, having them send me another invoice for the duty then an automated phone call with no key in to talk to a human... I suspect they did not write down my card number properly because we all know for a certainty they do not leave parcels with duty owing.

If they can't deliver properly, or communicate with the public in a civilized manner, you don't want to deal with them.
