I bought a 'Buy it Now' listing and used the lowest price tool, including shipping to narrow down my choices. I selected a purchase - of four units complete ( the listing was for four items, I did not select four) and paid via PayPal.
Now after the sale the seller is asking for a massive increase in shipping costs as it was - according to him, shipping costs for a single unit?
I thought the sellers were responsible for their listings and accuracies?
Can he ask I pay three times more shipping after the sale is complete?
Thoughts? Advice?

You pay what the listing states unless you and the seller have negotiated an alternative S&H arrangement.
Keep all correspondence until the transaction is completed.
Sellers cannot unilaterally change S&H costs after entering into the 'contract'.

I think what you are saying is:
The seller made a listing for one unit.
He had four units available.
You bought all four.
The shipping price for four units is higher than the shipping price for one unit.
And you are surprised?
It might have been wise to ask the seller BEFORE bidding, if he would combine and discount shipping. Most sellers will do this automatically.
BUT
Is the seller in the USA or the UK
Is he enrolled in the Global Shipping Program?
Sellers who use the GPS CANNOT combine or discount shipping. Can't be done.
HOWEVER.
If you bought only one unit, no he cannot raise the shipping cost.
BUT
Look again at the Shipping and Handling tab. Were you looking at the shipping cost to his country or to Canada?
And again, if he is enrolled in the GPS, you are required to pay Canadian duty and sales taxes on any import valued over $20CDN (about $16USD) plus a ~$5 service fee to PitneyBowes who run the program.
If you could answer these questions about the exact situation, we can give you useful advice.
And yes, we detest the GSP as well. Let's not go there.
