Some tips
Canada Post has discount rates , call Canada Post .
The New tracking to America started on all ground parcels over 1kg July 7th . Be very careful , if you use the , desk top program Canada Post provides . You are not getting the lowest shipping . CP has hidden brokerage fees in the desk-top program . It's cheeaper to write the manifest out manually.

When writing manifest manually to USA . All that is needed on the manifest is the Name of the person and the state . Do not bother with all the other info

Where do you download tehe VCD program. I searched the whole CP website and found not mention of it. Please help, I would like to take a look at it.

Here's a quick tip. When shipping small packet AIR to international destinations, remember that you can register it for an additional $9.00. Now you have tracking and insurance for up to $65.00!

Magisterrex, this may a good idea in some cases but if from canaada -> US it would be better to put the item in a bigger box (min size 26cm x 15.2cm x 1cm) and ship the item by Xpresspost. Insurance up to $100.00 included approx 3-5 day delivery. quite often my Xpresspot charges are $17.00 or $18.00 Cdn. (opposed to $9.90 small packet air + $9.00 to register it)

You have to open an account with Canada Post to see the VCD program ...You have to down load sections of it . The only way to do this is with your password and account

Many 711's and Drug Stores try to upsell to the register mail for 9.00 . When really all that is need is a biger box.

I just shipped a few packages internationally with CP this week (I usually ship everything via USPS). A real pleasant surprise - everything was either the same price (converted) or less than USPS. This was for small package, parcel, air and Xpress. I'll still ship to Canada from the US - it costs less and I know what it will cost for everyone.

Open up a commerical account and use Canada Post online manifest system. It's fast, you print your postage shipping label and custom document online on your printer and save you time and money.

When you do a manifest oline, Canada Post emails your customers (with the email address you provide them with) and tell the customer their parcel is on the way with the tracking number and how to track the item. This feature is so neato! It also 100% proof of shipping that ebay safeharbour and paypal accepts as "proof of shipping" incase customer says they did not get their item..

With a commercial account depending on your volume you make get up to a 35% discount. Even if your shipping is 1000 monthly you should get 15%.

A venture card is nice but a commercial account will get you more benefits when dealing with Canada Post.

PayPal seems to accept expedited parcel tracking numbers.

well www-labels4less-com(pardon me I'm a newbie on these boards but not a newbie seller)

I faxed paypal a copy of my Canada Post manifest for a parcel that was send air mail with no tracking number for proof of shipping -(the customer complained and did a complaint on paypal (chargeback)- that they never received their item)

After paypal investigated they DID ACCEPT my manifest as "PROOF OF SHIPPING" to customer because it had the customer name & address on it I presume. I'm only stating my shipping experiences, if you have other reasons to state I'm wrong please provide your proof. No disrepect intended.

Jewelbay , I'm not doubting you but you were very lucky. I have been denied in the past on 2 occasions. The issue I suppose is that one could use the VCD software, and print off the waybill and then cancel(void) the transaction



Here is what Paypal has to say about proof:

For transactions $500 or more in value that are initiated between November 15, 2001 and April 19, 2002, and for transactions $250 or more in value that are initiated on or after April 19, 2002, the seller also needs to provide an online proof-of-receipt in the form of a signature from the recipient. "
