Canada Post cancelled my account !

About 2 years ago, they reduced my discount rates because "I wasn't shipping enough..." so I decided to start using air mail to ship my items. It has worked great, I only ship a couple of times a week using EST to either USA or Canada (usually more expensive orders, to get tracking) anyhow today I couldn't select any service and after calling support I discovered that my account was downgraded (I still see I have a $5,000 credit limit with them though)

Recently they had me with practically no discount, I was using EST out of convenience, however I had it with their narrow mind people Tomorrow I will be setting up an account with either UPS or FedEx Ground Screw CANADA POST

Does anybody know of any good discounts with either FedEx or UPS?

CP downgraded me too but it's fine by me. They gave me the Venture One card. meh, no biggie.

But a question for you. If you don't have sufficient volume to keep a commercial account with Canada Post what kind of discount can you hope to get with a courier company? I'm sorry but I don't think it's likely myself.

To get discounted rates with any of these guys, you need the volume to support it.

I do, on average, $800 to $1200 per week with UPS and get a 45% discount.

I contacted UPS yesterday:
They do not offer discount for EBAY PS anymore, do not supply free clear labels. Minimum requirement for discount is at least $2000/week.
But you can get huge shipping boxes for free. 🙂

If memory serves you need 750 packages per year to qualify for a Level 1 discount (only slightly better than the combined Venture One/EST or PayPal discounts), LetterPost, Light or Small Packets do not count.

To get a discount on Small Packets the minimum is 50,000 per year.

Try calling UPS again and the eBay promotion from last
summer is still going. According to my UPS rep.
You should be paying flat rates to the USA.
Provided you were part of the program last year.
Call 800-742-5877 as ask about the ebay program.

Don't tell them you are selling through ebay. Set up an off-ebay site and re-contact UPS.

It's not like they can tell from your Canada Post receipts/records that your sales are through ebay.

I was offered 55% discount on domestic Ups Rates but I turned it down still a 5 dollars avarage over canada post .

Im a Lvl 2 Discount Rate Canada post . I do about 100 packages a week with them in the winter should be 150-200 packages a week in the summer .

There pretty good for packages besides the more lost packages / broken packages for me the better its like a double sale . Lost is good but Broken is awesome cause i get the item back for free if under 200.00 value which i can turn around and ither fix or re sell . I love canada post some times !

Some news from UPS.
I contacted them today again, the same rep said:
"OK, I can offer you 25% off if you spend $300/wk, or 45% off for $1000 per week."
And few seconds after:
"Sorry, you have had 45% discount already (I opened account with UPS when they promoted 45% off for PS on last summer, but I never used it)."
I am going to enjoy my discount tomorrow.

THAT IS GREAT!
It's a shame that we have to do all the leg work in getting anything done...as far as seller discounts etc.
There should be somebody, somewhere asking for our business.
Us PowerSellers here in Canada, work harder than our US friends. We have unfair/costly shipping options compared to USPS. DSR's are going to be a tough ride I think.

I am finding that a lot of buyers are starting even more, to generalize us with USA sellers when it comes to shipping times etc...
More buyers are becoming very arrogant as well....like they know they have an advantage.
Not fair.
Again, I ask: Is anyone else coming across this too?

Absolutely, rose_productions.

Over my 1/2 a decade as a powerseller on eBay, I have definitely noticed more and more sellers "putting the screws" to us. I refuse to cave in to their demands, though, and my feedback has been getting worse and worse as time goes on.

Another reason I'm moving away from eBay. 🙂
