Canadian Buyer No Good, but so are the sellers

It's been said that Canadian buyers are not as good as buyer as the people from down south.

But so is the Canadian sellers, at least that's my personal experiences; one of every two Canadian buyers i bought stuff from do not represent themselves properly, item was not as described. I bought a ESQ watch couple months back, it arrived with an obvious scratch (0.5 inch long) on the face and it was not mentioned at all, the seller said it was an expensive watch and it's normal day to day wear 😞

Bought a Roots bag just few days ago, same crap. Seller advertised it as used for 2 to 3 times and item arrived with obvious black marks on the front, all scratch up and discolored buckles, couple cuts and more black marks at the bottom. Email seller and the replied was she does not agree with my evaluation and i can send it back and she'll refund the item plus 1/2 of the postage ($16 charged, $8 on the envelope) so i'll be out $8 plus $10 to $12 shipping it back with a tracking number 😞

is this a Canadian thing or what, eh?

Nope!

Bad sellers and bad buyers are from everywhere. The two examples you give even if they are isolated and far from the norm are the very reason eBay is taking such strong action.

The things is that a bad buyer harms only the particular sellers they deal with (a reasonable seller knows that bad buyers exist but are a small minority). Bad sellers on the other hand taint buyers which hurts all sellers either by chasing away buyers or perhaps even more seriously the bad worth of mouth exposure that an unpleasant transaction brings.

I've often noticed on the US powerseller board when a seller posts of a problem with a Canadian buyer there are usually many sellers who state they love to sell to Canadians and have done so frequently without any problems.

Looking at that seller's dsr's show they are a pretty accurate reflection. 4.6 for item description is terrible and the rest of the stars are worse. I understand they are a low volume seller so their ratings can slip for only the occasional issue but it sounds like it's more than that if your transaction is any indicator.

Thank you for your excellent observation 🙂

On the positive note, i took a chance on a new Canadian seller with zero feedback and item arrived better than described, on time with xpresspost, worth every pennies.

Good seller or buyer usually have clear communications, sounded positive, and do not side step any issue.
