When I was in the Antique Store some friends and I had in the early 90's we used to have a young lad who was fascinated with antiques come in and visit us on a regular basis
Many times he brought his neighbours dog with him. A lovable Golden Lab named Chester
This lad was about 10 or 11 years old and Chester was about the same size as him. Always fun to watch Chester pull him up and down the street
These 2 had a real bond with each other
Our store was outside of the city and the ditches were deep. Most times there was a few inches of water in them but for about a month the ditches were pretty well filled Actually had trout in them for awhile spilling out of the river a few miles up from us
One day while looking out of the window in the store I saw R and Chester walking down the street. All of a sudden Chester decided it was time for a trip through the ditch. All R could do was hold on and go with the flow
In they went Chester having a great time swimming with R being pulled along behind him. They were in the ditch for about 1/2 a block before R was able to get him out
When he did I could see him looking around really embarrassed and the look on his face was please dont anyone have seen this
I was really good for a few days after when R came in not wanting to embarrass him but finally I could not help myself
Asked him if he enjoyed his swim?
He went beet red
he swore he would never bring Chester around when the ditches were filled with water again
