Dormant ebayer Name

Hello all,

I am in need once again of your collective and singular wisdom.

Joanne and I want to change the name of our e-Bay enterprise. The desired name is held by a person in the US but is pretty much dormant.
What is your sense of the idea of getting hold of this e-bayer and asking if they would mind relinquishing the name. I know that sounds kind of forward. I'm also curious about how one might go about getting in touch with them.

As always, thank you for your advice and input. We've profited from it and we enjoy the exchange of ideas.

A few years back, I found someone had signed up for the USERID I wanted, but had apparently never used it themselves. I contacted eBay, and pointed out that it was dormant, and they quarantined the name for 30 days, saying they would contact the person who first registered it. Obviously there was no response to their contact attempt, and it was up for grabs at the end of the 30 day period. I recall it came up at 4:00 am on a Sunday morning, and I pounced on it by 4:00:15 am. Send eBay a note and explain what you want, and indicate what happened in my situation. Good luck........... Never hurts to ask. But if they want to sell it, then I would go the other route of contacting E-Bay. My 2 cents, soon to be 1 cent after the 18th!:-(
