EBAY DUMBING DOWN?

Ebay is asking us to do what they won't...serve our customers at a 95% satisfaction rate. Are we 95% satisfied? As ebay fees have increased has ebay increased advertising in Canada? Please tell of any national ebay adversising campaign, or even local.

Poll after poll, survey after survey shows that the best customer satisfaction is hard to hold at 80%...85% is resesrved for Nordstrums. Nothing is rated higher on an ongoing basis. Of course we don't sell at there margins. But nobody comes to Ebay paying Nordsrums prices.

When dsr started I could gauge buyer response in each feedback. I shipped with free shipping and dropped from 5 to 4.9 on shipping charges even though it was free...would that be a flame now?

We have a couple of Ebay names we are selling under...all at 100% over more then 5 years...Total of more then a thousand transactions with Ebay sales of more then 500K...I can tell you what most of you already know, that it is hard to satisfy everybody all the time. But many of us do, and bend over to do it...Now, don't bend over? Just comply to Paypal?

A} Is Ebay dumbing down?

B} What is our loss to be a POWER SELLER?

C} Should Ebay have a customer satisfaction rate,(us), that they are asking us to have from our customers?

POWER SELLER is the easiest. Of course as you know, the only Ebay sellers that are audited by REVENUE CANADA are POWER SELLERS.

What do we get for that? A couple of 0.05 listing days and Ebay/Paypal fees that we are always on the short end of.

C} Is easy also. Unless you think that people that were in charge of the sub-prime mortgage mess had a good idea...for everybody but themselves. Ebay for the most part is a monopoly.

A} The new 100% is as George Orwell said "DOUBLE SPEAK"...the abillity to argue two contradictory opinions at the same time.

Check Ebay ID emovieposters.com about why after 10 years, 200,000 ebay transactions, $13,000,000,000 USD in sales and 100% feedback he is leaving because of new Ebay polocies.

We subsidize shipping on an ongoing rate of 12.5%. Which still rates at 4.8

We became a POWER SELLER because we averaged 100 sales per month, over a three month period.

Our TOTAL GROSS sales for that entire THREE month period were less than C$1000.

Please- audit away. I am really curious to see where all the money we are perceived to have made went.

Oh yeah- eBay/PayPal fees. Which at our level of sales at times account for 30% of the gross eBay revenue!

EBAY DUMBING DOWN?

In February 2008, I posted an update here on the Federal Court of Canada's 2007 decision that may require eBay to release certain customer information regarding Canadian PowerSellers during the years 2004 and 2005 to the Canada Revenue Agency.

I would like to update you again on developments.

eBay stands by our sellers and will continue to vigorously defend your privacy. As I posted in February, we are appealing the court decision requiring eBay to disclose customer information. That appeal is currently underway, and will continue.

We then requested a "stay" that would prevent eBay from having to release the requested user information to the Canada Revenue Agency while we await the court’s decision on our appeal.

Unfortunately, we recently learned that our request for a stay of the court's decision has been denied. Consequently, despite our appeal being still underway, eBay has been ordered by the Federal Court of Canada to provide information on PowerSellers from 2004 and 2005.

This is not the outcome that we wanted and we are disappointed with the ruling. Protecting our users' privacy is of the utmost importance. We are doing everything possible to avoid having to release our members’ information.

We have decided to launch a second appeal, this time to contest the denial of our request for a stay of the court's decision. We strenuously object to being forced to release our members’ information before that appeal has been decided.

We once again remind sellers that they are responsible for ensuring that they are in compliance with all local laws and regulations relating to their activities online. As well, a change in PowerSeller status at this time will not alter our information disclosure requirements.

As more information becomes available, we will keep you updated.

Mr Scott Shipman-
May I ask what leads you to waste eBay's resources defending your belief of "
customer privacy"
SIMPLY PUT- the transactions in question took place in a PUBLIC FORUM.
And secondly- why not provide ALL eBay seller's transactions- not just POWER SELLERS!

While having been asked to provide specific information- providing ALL INFORMATION certainly satisfies the providing of the 'some information' provided therein.

Let Canada Revenue Agency provide their own resources to aggregate, and compile the information.

A seller who sold a $10,000 every month- each month for a year- would not have become a POWER SELLER. Even though they sold $120,000 worth of merchandise.

Yet- a seller meeting the requirements of selling ONLY $1000 per month, and earning a GROSS SALES TOTAL of $12,000 would become a POWER SELLER.

SO- THE BIG PICTURE- BEING A POWER SELLER IS ONLY PART OF THE EQUATION.

GIVE Revenue Canada EVERYTHING- and let them waste their time over the next ten years sorting it all out!
