Even More Non-Paying Winners with the New Feedback System

Am I the only who has noticed the sudden increase in the already high volume of non-paying winners, now that ebay has started with the new, more feedback system for buyers? This is getting absurd. I actually got an email from a guy saying "you can relist the ipod since I found another one." I suggested it would be a good idea to reread ebay's policy on non-payment. I've no doubt I will get negative feedback for expecting payment.

Even More Non-Paying Winners with the New Feedback System

I haven't had an increase in non-payers, but I have already had two buyers ask me for a deal (both are also sellers) since the new feedback system started.

I don't think the new feedback system has anything to do with that. It's just an influx of stupid people. Someone emailed me all angry asking why she's receiving these emails because she doesn't even know how to go on eBay??? uh huh....I told her to be careful with her kids or people using her computer because someone sure did.

I forwarded her the email from eBay with her name and addy and email address. Haven't heard back from her. Filed UPI and wait with baited breath to neg the fool and warn others!

I mean, what? do they think we're all stupid or something? oh well....life goes on.

I also noticed the sudden increase in the non-paying winners volume. Since last two months it is a real disaster - I lost hundreds of dollars. The people make me sick - they lie, they try to threaten me with negative feedbacks. Will Ebay do something? I don't think so - they are SO BUSY with the new feedback system and another brilliant ideas (the next one will be: "a buyer has right to refuse an unpleasant feedback" or "the byuer can charge back money until 3 years after the transaction" - any new suggestions? 😉

Buyers may think they have us by the ***** but when they don't pay and their negative feedback begins to add up they may think twice about continuing the practice.

And Jakeeangel, I do think the buyers asking for deals had everything to do with the new feedback system. All they have to do is look at my feedback, see that auctions have lately been selling for the starting price and figure that I will settle for what I can get. I never had anyone ask for a deal before. Before they had to click on each listing to do a comparison. Now they can do it in a glance.

What's your percentage of NPB's? I don't think mine have changed much in years although I would certainly prefer if it was lower.

My suggestion is to all: visit on time real action and ask them how many people didn't pay for item which they won!
Just go over it!

Unfortunately, Judy, many sellers do not leave negative feedback for NPB's because they are concerned about retaliatory negs. Makes a further mockery of the system. I always do; I keep it polite and factual but I do leave it.

We have noticed a slight increase in nonpaying bidders in the last 2 weeks. Some have paid after I filed the NPB with Ebay, a few have not, and they have the negative feedback coming as soon as the 8 day waiting period for their response is done. I urge everyone who sells on Ebay to make sure they NEG their non payers. It's the best defence(aside from blocking 0 ID's) we have. - PHIL

Almost 10% (!!!!!). Believe or not! For 280 items sold in April/1 week of May no payment for 25! I took the action against the worst buyer, contacted another sellers and we closed his account (Ebay helped us!). But if somebody contact me and explain, that his financial situation changed and is no more able to pay for the items, I take no action at all.

Until ebay does something about the ability to sing up for piles of ids I'd say negging non payers is of little use. Some on the .ca public boards have used towards 10 ids at least. Neg someone like that what does it matter, they'd just switch to buying with another id.

When I look back through the 18 months on the dispute console, the non payers who never responded mostly never had any further activity on ebay anyway.

I noticed the same! If a buyer with 5 feedbacks get a negative, he simply movse to another account - it takes 5 minut to open a new one! NEGATIVE MEANS NOTHING to a buyer, because it does not affect his ability to buy.

Judy the question here wasn't about people asking for deals. The question here was about the new feedback system having more non-paying bidders. People asking for deals never came up here. I believe that was in another thread.

Ooops! Sorry, it was in here. Sorry about that. 🙂 But the OP was about non-paying bidders though.

And I commented on my experience with non-paying bidders first. Then I mentioned the change that I have seen only because I think it is a related topic. And I also mentioned it in another thread.

I have to laugh at the comment by jakeeangel:

Not only on eBay but just in general everywhere! 😉

That's on the high end of normal for eBay from what I've heard over the years. There is a great deal of variation depending on the widgets you sell.

At least you won't have to worry about them much until October......enjoy your trip!

NPB's are like window shoppers in B&M retail, they take up a lot of time and effort and they don't help pay the rent. Unfortunately that's simply the way it is.
