How do I get a refund on an item that was not as described and seller is telling me to ship back?

Ship it back with delivery confirmation so that you have proof when they receive it back. Normally buyers are responsible for return shipping but you can ask the seller if they will pay for it since the item was not as described. Some sellers will pay for shipping in that situation but they are not obligated to.

The seller unfortunately has this right & as a result the Post Office does very well on this sale but you & the buyer lose out.
I usually try to split the difference - give the buyer some or all of the purchase price of the item & we both lose our shipping costs.
(e-bay charges the seller about 9 per cent of the shipping fee in addition
to item value fees).
