I can't list an item because ebay can't follow their own policies and guidelines.

One of the most frustrating things about ebay is their 'standards' that they put in place that can punish sellers (unfairly and grossly over the top IMHO) but they don't feel the need to follow their own.

I wouldn't mind so much if it was just constructive criticism, or a 'helping hand' but when simple mistakes lead to limits, suspensions and bans, it is all the more galling and annoying when ebay, the largest auction company in the world, can't be bothered to even follow their own rules.

I am not sure exactly who is responsible for ebay's catalogue, but they insist it be used and is endorsed by them.

Here is the point.

I was trying to list a Nikon nikkor 30-110 lens (white). It's brand new, so I don't bother with my own pictures, I use ebays.

But get this...... I can't list it.... because the picture, EBAY's picture, 'doesn't comply with policy'. That is, it's too small. so ebay keeps on blocking the listing.

Again, it wouldn't really bother me, but when simple mistakes are made by me and I get limited, it is all the more frustrating that ebay can't get their own info correct.

Hi froogal_electronic_parts_and_overstock,

I looked into this for you & listed the same item, Nikon 1 Nikkor 30-110 mm F/3.8-5.6 VR Lens (White), and I was able to successfully post, no blocks whatsoever. Was this on eBay.com that you tried this on or eBay.ca?

Thanks,

thanks for looking into this. It wasn't a request for help, but more of a rant. I listed without the photo and then used a different photo.

Repeated attempts  were blocked by ebay due to picture size. This was on ebay.ca

While I do appreciate the input, it's not very helpful. To summarize the conversion, I said I had a problem, you said you didn't . That doesn't really address the problem at all.

Maybe you can provide the auction item number that you used,  so I can see if it's the same item. As you know there can be multiple catalogue listings for the same or very similar item.

Also, please provide the browser you used, as I find the ebay site behaves different based on which browser is used, and updates are often adhoc.

TIA!
