Have you ordered much from international sources? Almost everywhere requires a phone number these days, but it's for Customs purposes and may need to be there.
I assure you, no one from your local postal facility is going to burgle you. Besides, the postee knows where you live. What if s/he rings the doorbell and no answer? You're not supposing s/he'll sneak round the back and come in a window...
Moreover, an unanswered phone does not mean no one is home. Everyone has Call Display, an answering machine, or both. When a burglar wants to know if people are out during the day, he watches the place. He might prowl through neighbourhoods trying doors, but burglars don't phone first.
Most shops/sellers do not put the ph # on the outside, but if they do, - don't worry about it. People employed to handle many millions of pieces of mail are the least likely to take time to jot down your number from a parcel with a mind to loot the premises on their day off.
