I want to buy an item but the seller has Global shipping and I was told I can opt of of it?

Is this true? I really want to buy this but I thought it had to be done on the seller's end NOT buyers?

You're right, there is no way that you can change that...the seller has to do it. I have heard that once you have received an invoice with the global shipping on it, the seller can then send you a new invoice without gsp. I haven't tired it..but read about it on the discussion boards.
