Is eBay/Paypal Seller/Buyer protection a joke?

Recently I had trouble resolving an issue with Paypal about the purchase of illegal MS Office.  Paypal refused to entitle me to the buyer protection for the reason that the software is an “intangible product”, which was surprisingly lurking in the fine print.

Fortunately, my credit card company was able to resolve the case instead of Paypal.

 

Here I have another unpleasant experience out of eBay transaction in such a short interval AGAIN.

 

What happened was that a scammer from Russia left a negative feedback out of his frustration for his failed attempt, but ebay would not remove the negative feedback by the scammer. The scammer joined eBay recently and has only four feedback records with dubious transaction made invisible as “Private”, typical of a scammer.

(I’ve been a member for a decade and did not know that I had an option of making my purchase history “private” and hidden.)

 

I guess that the rating of is not such a big deal, but do have an issue with the business ethics of ebay and/or paypal.

These companies seem to care only about collecting fees, regardless.

 

Moral of the story: Sell stuff of value on Amazon and the junks on eBay.

Buyers can do this. The idea I think is to allow them to hide embarrassing or gift purchases.

Sellers are not allowed to have private feedback. If a member has made his feedback private he cannot sell until he makes it public.

 

I see eBay removed the Russian's remark, but not the neg. Your Response was excellent. Calm and factual. Makes you look good.

 

Since you are an occasional seller, we can't see if he hurt your Detailed Seller Ratings. I hope those were not trashed by the Russian.
