Is it all right for the bidder to ask what the reserve price is before the end of the auction?

The bidder sent me an email asking what the reserve price is a few days into the auction. The reserve price obviously has not yet been met. Should I keep it secret?

Sure its ok for buyer to ask and you to give. Buyers dislike reserve auctions.

Personally, I don't bid on any items being sold in a reserve price auction. You may find it easier if you set the starting price at the lowest level you are comfortable selling the item for and eliminating the reserve price. The decision is yours, however.

Setting the price at the lowest acceptable is not only more friendly to your customers, but is also free.

If no one bids on a Reserve Auction, you still pay the Reserve fee. If no one bids when your starting bid is your reserve, the auction remains free.

As for your customer's query, go ahead and tell him. And publish your answer, it may encourage other bidders.

Some unwanted advice: you have 40 keystrokes free in your title and your title is your best selling point.

Add more info: year, colour, mechanical fitness certificate, odometer reading. MPG- whatever fits.

You are paying for that sub-title and it is not searchable.
