Is there a market for a single log?

Does anyone know?

It's a log about 30+ feet long... ave. 16-18 inches

All I remember is on the Beachcombers they would go to a heck of a lot of trouble for one log 🙂

Re: Is there a market for a single log?

It depends where it is (land or beach).....what type of wood it is......how long since it was cut down.....general all around condition.

A few years ago I had to cut down a black walnut tree. The trunk to where it branched off was about 20ft tall and maybe 30in across. I sold it for 600.00 to a wood carver.

I bought a huge piece of driftwood for the wife's garden two years ago and paid 60 for it.

Other trees, oak specifically, that has sat in the right water for hundreds of years are now being pulled out and sold.

So is your wood saleable? Everything is saleable......you just have to find the right buyer.

haha - that's why I didn't hesitate to ask the question here - because it is one thing that couldn't possibly be sold on eBay!

Thanks prior, this is a beautiful sound fir log. came down in a storm. Can only be taken out by road. Tried a log home builder nearby but haven't heard anything back.

Re: Is there a market for a single log?

Fir's not going to bring you much, it's an inexpensive wood.

My suggestion.............get a chainsaw........make a totem pole.......sell it on kijiji.

If you wait a few years you may have enough to build a house.

There was a TV show about the recover of logs from rivers and swamps....

a relatively dangerous activity

It was expensive wood....

Each log was worth thousands of dollars.

Sure it can.  You just have to cut it into toothpicks, first.

Do you have a big back yard?

Cut it into four 7ft pieces and use it for seating around a barbeque pit.
