MPs recommend Canada Post bring back door-to-door mail delivery

A House of Commons committee is recommending Canada Post come up with a plan to reinstate door-to-door delivery in parts of the country that lost the service in the last year and maintain a freeze on the installation of community mailboxes.

The report from the Liberal-dominated committee released Tuesday also says there is no need to reduce the number of days a week that mail is delivered, suggesting reduced service standards could accelerate the decline the corporation has seen in the number of letters handled.

The committee says that based on its hearings, Canadians are open to mail being delivered fewer than five days a week, but that "does not fit the business models of either Canada Post or its paying customers.".....

The report includes many recommendations...

Both sides of the door-to-door versus Community Mailboxes option were presented in the report..

Based on the Canada Post Corporation Act ... Canada Post must be self-sufficient.

If Community mailboxes result in less cost then CPC will continue with the reduction of door-to-door delivery.

A recommendation is just that... and not an absolute.

At first we  see  everything that will affect CPC in a negative manner.

Yet the CPC Act protects CPC, and allows CPC to proceed with an economically viable option.

Perhaps the most important wording in the report  is the statement that.......

Canada Post is an essential public service....

This would  mean no more `work disruptions....  visit the other discussion.....

What an absolute waste of tax payers money for these ridiculous biased recommendations by the biased Liberal idiots on the panels. Why even bother with the so called discussions. It all went to closed ears from the start.

Of course one is to raise postage..

I think this is absolutely ridiculous and those of you who voted for Trudeau will find he is going to squander every cent he can and give nothing back to Canadian Citizens

Many , many people in Canada have never had door to door mail delivery.         

Is the post office going to continue to discriminate against them  or will all Canadians get equal service ?
