Seller not transferring warranty

My son bought me a tablet for Xmas that has a transferable warranty with 10 months remaining. The seller appears to be  stalling this transfer, promising to do it but hasn't. Since it costs the seller nothing except two minutes of his time to transfer the warranty, I am concerned that it is because it is not his to transfer. I can think of no other reason for this delay. What should we do?

Ebay's policy on warranties.

Yes, my son bought it used from an Ebay seller.

This is the manufacturer's warranty that comes with the product, not from the seller himself. It is fully transferable at no cost to the seller. The only reason I can see for him not to transfer it is because the tablet was not his to sell.

Some companies will not let you transfer a warranty for used items sold on ebay and some will not let you transfer across the border.

It was sold and bought in Canada. There is nothing to prevent the warranty transfer. Still being under manufacturer's warranty was a big reason buying used was acceptable, especially with 11 months left (now 10).

What I am asking is if I should be concerned about this transaction not being "legal" considering the seller's lack of response to the warranty transfer.

Again the only reason I see for not transferring the warranty is because he does not have legal right to do so.
