How is one to make any money selling in cnd and having to pay all fees in USD including 10% on shipping, plus paypal fees if an item sells. This is a Canadian site right? Or am I in the wrong place?

You can set what currency you pay your fees. Your choice of US$ or CA$
I've always paid my fees in Canadian dollars. It's been over 10 years since I set that up.
Not sure where eBay has that setting hidden these days.

You do it by forgetting that both currencies have the same names.
You sell in loonies.
You pay fees in bucks.
Different things entirely.
Among other currencies that use the term 'dollar', Australia, Belize, Brunei, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Namibia, New Zealand, Singapore, Suriname, Taiwan.
If you sold in Hong Kong dollars you'd still be taking in the same amount of money.
If you paid in Singapore dollars you'd still be paying out the same amount of money.
