Why does ebay only allow us to set our buyer preferences to refuse buyers with less than -1 feedback? Its the buyers with less than 10 that are also giving me problems. Ive started asking all buyers with less than 10 to contact me prior to bidding but I shouldnt have to if they would allow more flexibility in the buyer preferences.

I got tired of non payers in general. So I switched to fixed price with immediate payment required. I set my buyer blocks to get rid of buyers with negative feedback and too many unpaid item strikes and those without a paypal account. Its helped immensely AND I don't have to put anything negative in my listings that might turn off good buyers.

Logically speaking what do you think would happen if everyone blocked zero feedback bidders? 🙂
BTW you policy of opening a dispute after 14 days is way too long …
You can open a dispute after 4 days but I figure seven days is friendlier.B-)

The only way to block zero feedback bidders is to Block bidders without an active Paypal account.
This does not work once the bidders has completed any transaction, even if there was no feedback exchanged, but it is a start.
I agree that you should shorten your waiting period, sending a polite reminder on Day Three and starting the Dispute soon after. I'm a mean nasty person, so that is Day Four , 96 hours after the purchase.

Haha femmefan, you're not mean and nasty! I mean well, if we buy groceries from a supermarket or fast food joint we'd have to pay right away, so I don't see anything wrong with setting 4 days. I do personally set 7 days for reason unknown (I have left it as 7 days since I started selling and I don't want to go through the trouble of editing all listings). I do set to block all buyers with two unpaid strikes within a month, though. Not all low feedback buyers are bad... I'd say about 25% of my less-than-10-feedbacks buyers were non-payers, which wasn't too bad, and well had someone with 300+ feedbacks not pay too, so...

We all started at zero..
Perhaps ebay should update the -1 for buyers , since no buyer can get a negative..
Bring back the negative and stop the punishment for DSR's....

You can't stop buyers with low feedback like under 10 from bidding. They can just ignore your notice and that notice might even be in violation of eBay policy. All you can do if non-payment is too big an issue is to require immediate payment.

I have had six people BIN then not pay in the past two weeks. Tax time sucks, no? I am always trying to map the trends, and explain these sudden epidemics to myself. Maybe there is no logic, only luck (spoken like Yoda). I cinched everything up, which sucks. I hate to distrust people by default, but a girl has to make a living.

@zee you should set your preferences to block buyers with 2 unpaid item strikes within a 12 month period, instead of one month. The bad buyers might not have done it twice within the last month, but there is a high chance they have done it a couple of times over the course of a year, so you will will weed out more of them that way 🙂

99% of my non paying bidders are those with less then 100 but more then 10 ... i never have problems with new ebayers ...
