Every time i make an auction every person from the states seems like they contact me for the shipping cost. I dont know what setting i have wrong as seen here: http://i.imgur.com/6UfP5.png
The part in the red i always unclick and save this format for future listings but when i check the listing in revise they are checked again. How do i make it so people from the states NEVER or at least most dont have to ask me for shipping costs.
Info: I Do ALL shipping from canada post and paypal online and make sure the box demention and weight are correct for the auction

Because it kind of defeats the purpose of calculated shipping if it doesnt calculate the shipping. Calculated shipping is suppose to be easier is it not?

I also use what ever box i can find so they are very rarely the same dimensions. I have never seen it consecutively in the same rand every single time like you said. What am i doing wrong.

Direhelm, I looked at a couple of your listings and the USA isn't the only problem. Buyers from other countries can't get rates either.
I think you have confused the shipping calculator by specifying a USA-only service for other countries. Here's how to fix it:
1) In your example, look at the first section of International Shipping, ABOVE your red-outlined area.
You have selected Canada Post Light Packet USA. This is a USA-ONLY service, so the only box that should be checked underneath it is the USA box. You need to UNCHECK France, UK, and Australia in this section.
2) Now, if you do want to ship to those other countries, you need to select a different postal service.
See the blue link that says "Offer additional service" that is directly above your red outline. Click that to get another menu of postal choices. Choose Light Packet International and then you can check boxes below that for France, UK, etc.
Now, about Light Packet. I think that's wrong for you too. Light Packet is restricted to packages that are less than 2 cm thick, and I don't think any of your items are that slim.
What you want is Small Packet USA Air for the USA in the first section, and then Small Packet International Air in the second section.
Many sellers are also comfortable using Small Packet USA Ground, which is a bit cheaper than Air.
DO NOT EVER use Small Packet International Ground**. It can take months and your buyers will complain.
** Unless your business is like Toff's - which yours isn't. The seller Toff3 has very specialized product and customers and is able to use International Surface delivery. Most of us can't.

Do some of your items weigh more than 1 kg? In that case use Expedited Parcel for the USA.
12-13-2012 02:31 AM
Doesnt that cost alot more? Why would i choose that? Just wondering
12-13-2012 02:39 AM
Okayyyyy I'm starting to see what your saying. To be honest i might just stop trying to sell any place other then Canada And the USA. But im still curious why even though if i picked a USA service that people from the states still couldnt get a rate?
12-13-2012 02:47 AM
I'm guessing you picked Light Packet, but entered dimensions that were too big for that service. I think that freezes the calculator.
12-13-2012 03:09 AM
One would thick that if it was too large it just would let you pick that service. Guess that's just some kind futuristic Technology... Thanks alot for your help i went though all my auctions and changed them to USA Expedited and they all calculate not.
Just wish it wasn't $23 to ship most things with it. I just don't understand why if i were to go to Canada post.ca and get a rate with those dementions it would allow me to use say USA AIR but if i choose that on a listing it Doesn't work. Baffles me as a developer
12-13-2012 04:36 AM
I agree. The calculator should tell you when the type of service or size is wrong...but it doesn't.
The cookie jar is not showing a price for the U.S. but the rest seem to be fine. You have tried to use small packet for it...is it over 1kg? That would explain why it wouldn't work. Also make sure that you know the min and max dimensions for each service. In the case of expedited, the dimensions are different within Canada than to the U.S.
It looks like you decided to ship just to the U.S. and Canada now?

I'm not sure what service you are referring to as USA Air (small packet?) but if the CP caluclator shows that you can use a specific service for a specific country, it should work here. If it doesn't, then its likely that some of the info that you are entering on the ebay calculator isn't quite right. If you run into that again and post all the info on the board , someone should be able to help you.
In case you don't know...if you print a shipping label using paypal and you are sending the package Expedited Canada or Expedited USA, you will get about a 20% discount on postage.

Make sure that you have your
My eBay -> Account -> Site Preferences -> Buyer Requirements
set up as follows for protection from buyers.
- Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)
- Have a primary shipping address in a location I don't ship to
- Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s)
- Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
- Are currently winning or have bought 5 of my items in the last 10 days and have a feedback score of 5 or lower
To make sure that you do not have buyers from other countries purchase your items, set up more blocks.
My eBay -> Account -> Site Preferences -> Selling Preferences -> Exclude Countries
leaving only the USA and Canada. Apply this to all listings.
One day when you want to try some International shipping, you can unblock some countries. For small items that are cheap to ship, you can add Australia, UK, France, Germany, etc. Larger items with expensive shipping are probably not a good idea to sell outside Canada and the USA.
Your LCD screen shows UK and France with no shipping costs. Remove those countries before someone bids and you have an unhappy customer who thinks it is free shipping.

Dire, oddly, it is not about size, it is about weight. As long as you are inside the 90cm total, max of 60cm on any one dimension, it doesn't matter. The weight categories take over.
Expedited calculator to the USA comes in around $23. Take a knife to the box and reduce size and weight, use Paypal shipping, and the price you pay drops into the teens. Size impacts Expedited 'cause you are into dimensional weight.
I hand make a lot of my boxes from sheet cardboard. Cuts down on size, weight, packaging. I can often get the parcel into a lower weight category. A little finesing and a $23 parcel suddenly goes for $10.10.

I am lazy and haven't read all the posts here but... there is definitely a problem with the shipping calculator.
I have walked through the step by step procedure as detailed
How to include Calculated Shipping Costs* in your listings:
I have done it correctly and yet... if I go to my 'ships worldwide' listing it will NOT give a shipping cost to anywhere except a Canadian destination. I KNOW that it is supposed to work because it has in the past. I have called customer support twice and... well it seemed pretty obvious that neither of the reps I spoke with have ever listed anything on eBay Canada (or eBay) before. I was told the problem would be passed on to Technical. That was earlier yesterday and there has been no change.
The "Calculated Shipping Costs" feature is NOT working AGAIN

The "Calculated Shipping Costs" feature is NOT working AGAIN
99.9% of the time the calculator does not work because the wrong information has been entered. For example, on item 321091110620 the calculator is set to show rates for Canada Post International Parcel Surface for packages going to the U.S. and other international countries. There is no such service available to the U.S. so the calculator cannot give a rate. For that item, I would suggest using xpresspost to the U.S. so that you can get a signature. If the buyer happens to file an item not received claim you will lose unless you can show delivery and an online signature.
I'm not sure why there is no rate showing for the other countries...perhaps the dimensions that you put in are too small for that particular service. I wouldn't recommend international surface at any time as it takes too long. Even if you have tracking, the buyer can still file within 45 days and if the package is still on its way so you can't show delivery, you will have to refund the buyer.
On item 321095891269 you have light packet USA set up all other countries but that service is available to the US only. There is a light packet international though. You always should separate the U.S. and other countries when filling out shipping info. What dimensions do you have in the shipping calculator for that item? If the depth is more than 2cm it can't be sent light packet which could be why their is no price showing in the U.S.

I have walked through the step by step procedure as detailed
You should go to Canada Post and check the requirements for each service.
Or use this calculator to input the information and it will tell you which service is available to that location.
