If you are looking at a multiple quantity listing, that could be the problem. Do you have the quantity set to "2?" If so, it would double the shipping cost unless it has free shipping:

Did you already buy the item, or is it still listed for sale?

Hello 'pafalco',

<<Why does Ebay charge fpr shopping when I fid not use an Ebay sponsored service. I end up Charged twice for shipping.>>

I am not sure what you mean about "an Ebay sponsored service".  To my knowledge, ebay does not 'sponsor' any service, nor does ebay itself charge for shipping.

Sellers choose the shipping service applicable to their items and the country to which it is to be shipped.  If you bought an item through the Global Shipping Program, you will pay a shipping fee and a separate import charge if the item has a value over $20 Canadian.

This has nothing to do with ebay, -- our Canadian government requires charges on $20+ amounts:

Many will agree that the GSP is an over-priced way to transport items, but the charges should have been clearly set out in advance of purchasing if you had carefully read through the listing.

Did you by any chance buy this from a phone?  Shopping from a phone is not a good idea, not yet.  Ebay is getting much better at making their site more 'phone friendly', but at the moment it is still wisest to place a desired item in your Watch List, then go find a real computer, -- either at home, work, school or even a public library.  Then carefully read the listing to make sure it truly is everything you hand in mind.

Otherwise I can't think what is bothering you as you provide so little information.  I do know that when you buy a single listing you cannot inadvertently be charged twice for shipping.

If you need further clarification perhaps you could post with more details? Smiley Happy

And then there is human error.

Many US sellers do not realize they were defaulted into the Global Shipping Program. Although it has been in place for about two years, you may have been your seller's first international sale.

It is not unusual for a seller, unaware of the GSP, to ship directly to the buyer. Usually this is a Good Thing, but in your case, you paid

  • shipping to Erlanger KY /GSP plant
  • Canadian duties and Sales Taxes
  • direct USPS shipping to Canada
  • and the Canadian duties and taxes again on your doorstep.

Look at the packaging and see if it came directly to you. Contact your seller for her tracking numbers.

Look at the original listing on a laptop or desktop (if you don't own one, try the local public library) for the tell tale Customs note that dmil mentions.

Then phone eBay Customer Support and ask to speak to a GSP specialist.

Don't use a phone with expensive minutes, you may be on Hold a lot.
