they are pretty laughable for Canadian based sellers listing on ebay.com and shipping to the USA. eg. a MAXIMUM of $4.00 for a single LP record weighing less than 500G. ACTUAL insured small packet postage through CPC is $7.20 for SURFACE or $8.55 for AIR.

Hahahaha...does this mean I am exempt from the lower DSR's I'm sometimes dinged with for my shipping costs that are a tad under what it actually costs me to ship my item?

This one doesn't affect me so much because I list my books in the craft category but lets say for fun that I have to comply with it:

Shipping on almost all of my books falls under the $4 to the US but my shipping on a handful of books is either $4.95, $6.95 or $11.70. This means I would have to boost my item cost (and eBay's FVF) to comply on these particular items.

My books are actually small leaflets but hardcover book sellers are SOL on this one because the majority of hard cover books weigh over 500 grams and cannot be shipped for under the small packet surface rate which is $10.70 for 500-1000 grams. So Canadian book sellers will either have to list on .ca or build the shipping into their price (perhaps list for free and build all the shipping into the price?). Either way it's going to hurt them.

it's a joke, clearly ebay.com is discriminating against us, they know what it costs us to ship to the usa. With packing my ACTUAL cost for air mail 1 LP is almost $10 USD to the USA. thats ship cost and packing only NO HANDLING, NO GAS CHARGE.

when I questioned these charges in the discussion forum dedicated to these changes (i.e. the "Welcome to the 8/20 Announcements Discussion Forum") - the pink's response was for me to sell on ebay.ca then.

eBay a GLOBAL marketplace.

Of course, in the seller forum on eBay.com, there's the inevitable thread about the eBay/IRS/Homeland Security conspiracy behind all these changes --- just so the "government" can track every move by every seller.

I don't subscribe to that kind of "late-nite talk-radio think" myself.

Hi recped,

I vote in the US elections and am most certainly looking forward to voting in the upcoming presidential election.

Hmm...Tom Ridge as VP. I wonder what color suit he would wear at the nominating convention? Green? Yellow? Red? *LOL*

Honestly, I'm not a McCain supporter so it really doesn't matter who he selects as his running mate.

However, I am interested in seeing who Obama will select for his VP running mate. CNN has us all holding on!

In the end...as Miss Congenialty said that she wanted...I know we all want...world peace!

Cross our fingers that Bush and friends pull no more stunts between now and when the moving van pulls up to the back door of the White House!

If you list on ebay.ca in Canadian Dollars you get the exchange rate benefit...

The Canadian Dollar is expected to hover in the 5-10% lower range until next year.

I also seem to recall that CD/DVD are one of those high pirated and counterfeit categories... offer guarantees of genuine product. 😉
