Why do Canadians have to be at the stuffy end of this new global shipping program that doubles...

Why do Canadians have to be at the stuffy end of this new global shipping program that doubles the already higher postage ( 7 dollars is the going rate for first class mail to Canada), I can live with that (you have to pay for the service) but this new program *****doubles it and then charges a duty that after hundreds of purchases I would otherwise  not have to pay*****. These costs are also hidden from the sellers summary, they do not see it. (that's what I have been told). I am buying old stuff, duty is for new stuff. I have to ask every seller with this if they will make an exception for me and most of them did and said they did not ask for the program. It's taking too long to ask and costs too much to pay so here I am after spending at least 15,000 dollars on old stuff since Jan/2013 (75 % from the USA) and now I'm being squeezed out. I know in the big picture it's (I'm) small potatoes but I'm being treated like it's chump change. Is the economy booming again? It's not where I live it's slowwwwwwww here.... Where is this tax going? I'm very sad, over fifty years old now and realize every body is out to squeeze you. Big business, big brother and crooks at every turn. I've never sold and hear that costs a lot too. BUT I have to admit that I have enjoyed the notes and nice people I have sort of been acquainted with while shopping on E bay. There are nice people every where. I'm happy with every thing I bought but now every thing I want to buy attached to the global shipping program is now out of my league, hardly free trade, not even fair trade. Like that isn't bad enough being Canadian the IP address in my computer is blocked so I can't see every thing for sale that I'd like to buy, I can't see most American sellers items. I have to hope to fluke by going through Google and searching the names of the items and sometimes I get lucky and see one I wouldn't have seen from E bay Canada, then I have to ASK if the seller will make an exception so I can bid because I'm in Canada. Then they have to write up a seperate invoice for me or the system will NOT let me pay (also, I might have to ask to side step the global shipping program because it's not manditory). Why do I have to ask? Can't I just push a button? I'm still going to buy on E bay but I can no longer buy anything so unfairly and unnecisarily taxed with this program. I will now be forced go out of my way to find new web sites to shop to fill the gap. PLEASE can some one tell the Wizard of OZ from Ebay they're losing a lot of business from Canadians. I've heard at least five people I know personally say the same thing. I am Canadian and I have American cousins, I've missed two funerals because since 911 we can't visit without passports, we've never needed them and don't go overseas, I'm not getting one. Guess it's just the way she goes in these days of great change. Or maybe some one important will read this message?

Think you have some things wrong in your post.

I believe you are mixing up duty with taxes.

Most things from the USA don't have Duty but  Most things with a value

of over $20.00 Canadian is subject to Taxes regarding the province.

It don't matter if the item is old or new Taxes are levied.

A lot of items valued over $20.00 do slip by customs if they are mailed

by USPS .

If you want to see items listed on ebay.com that are not shipped to Canada

then just sign onto ebay.com.

I paid $100 to Global Shipping (over the cost of shipping) for a $400 watch. That is way more than the 5% GST charged. The watch was shipped by USPS. Global Shipping is making a fortune of unsuspecting Canadians. I say unsuspecting because I will not even watch an item that includes Global Shipping.
