eBay Gives UK Sellers a Break on Tracking Requirements

eBay is giving UK sellers a break on a key performance metric as it rolls out new seller performance standards. For now at least, sellers who use Royal Mail will not be punished for late deliveries as long as they upload tracking to their accounts.....
While I am pleased to see that sellers in the UK are not being judged for postal failures, can we now have someone admit that ebay CANADA sellers cannot be fairly judged on provide tracking where a comparable service does not exist? Is it fair or just that sellers from UK gain 'get out of jail free' cards while we do not?

..... On Friday, eBay reminded sellers of the new standards and explained, "We're aware, that currently we may not have complete tracking information for some Royal Mail Tracked/ Royal Mail Signed For services, even when sellers upload tracking numbers to My eBay." eBay UK explained it was working to find a solution, and said, "In the meantime, we'll automatically remove any late deliveries you might incur when using Royal Mail Tracked / Royal Mail Signed For services, as long as you've uploaded the tracking number to My eBay. You'll be protected starting with your 20 February evaluation, taking into account all transactions within your current look-back period. We'll continue protecting you until 20 May by removing late deliveries one week before each evaluation."

UK sellers still have to have tracking and it isn't a permanent thing. It sounds like there is a problem with communicating the tracking info to Ebay from Royal Mail.

From a quick googling it looks like some people have been having issues with the Royal Mail API returning error messages for tracking status requests as of late. USPS has had some bad periods like this as well over the last 1-2 years, so it would at least appear ebay is making exceptions where there is a known issue.

It is that they are doing this automatically that is of interest to me.
In the past, there have been opportunities for ebay Canada to assist sellers when there is a known issue, and the response from R was that is was not possible to do so. I'm thinking, for example, of the mea culpa from Canada Post mid-December 2015 to rely Jan 2016 where CPC publicly admit on their website that items were being delivered late due to higher-than-expected volumes.
