identify chinese vase

hello,

i would like to know if anyone knows about this marking on my item. it is a chinese vase/jar. it has a marking "pegx???. the rest is not readable.

any idea?

Hello 'stancad',

Is that the lidded vase you have listed?  I believe the markings on the bottom are simply the manufacturer's mark, - I do not believe it is exemplary in any way.  In my opinion, an attractive piece of porcelain but I suspect of a coarse grain, mass-produced, and recent. 

You live in Montreal, yes?  Why not bundle it up and take it to Chinatown and ask one of the shopkeepers who sells similar items?  You may even find something very similar, but certainly if there is any Chinese writing on it, the clerk will be able to read it for you.

Well, ... just an idea.  . . .   You asked for ideas. 😄
