shipping from canada to the us regular mail is cheap. when you have to add a tracking number it can be expensive 20.00 plus shipping and up. remove the tracking number and ship letter not parcel

More and more and more US sellers do charge way too high postages rates since they opt into the Global Shipping Program (GSP).
I noticed that my buying habit on eBay has changed a lot since GSP came on board.
I no longer am willing to pay the hefty postage rates and especially the so-called import charges on many things we fully knew we would never be dinged for the import charges at the Canada Border at any time.
I was told by many US sellers then I contact them about the shipping costs to Canada when they didn't include the shipping information that they now are losing a lot of Canadian buyers since they opt in GSP and are considering to opt out of GSP in order to keep their Canadian buyers back.
If the sellers prefer to keep GSP, that is their choice but at the same time, their loss.

lana-- If your seller is using the Global Shipping Program that fee would included postage, duty if any on the $125 (unlikely since the card was probably printed in a NAFTA country*) and sales tax for your province. which could be up to $16,25. Then if the seller wants to use Global Priority /USPS service that's another $20. And a $5 service charge for PitneyBowes who run the program.
But the Global Priority should not come into it since the Pitney Bowes charge alrady covers Delivery Confirmation and insurance as I understand it.
