what can be done when seller says item has been shipped but tracking syas its not

i purchased an item and the seller sent notice that it was shipped and provided a tracking number when i checked the number it said electronic shipping information recieved and it has been the sam since december 6th

At this time of year when the Post Office is super busy some times items are not scanned as often as they should be.

Also it may be a delivery confirmation number rather than an actual tracking number.

Delivery confirmation numbers are only scanned twice.

When the item is mailed and when it is delivered.

If you don't receive your item you have 45 days in which to open a dispute with paypal.

Based on what the tracking number is giving you, I'm assuming the item is coming from the States, correct? More than likely, the "tracking number" you have been given is a Proof of Shipment number which proves that the seller has shipped the item. Even when you do get the item, the "tracking" information will probably still not change.

How long has it been since the seller shipped it? Items from the States can take around 2-4 weeks, most likely the latter since it is Christmas time. Keep in mind all Paypal claims have to be made within 45 days.
