why am I not getting a notification to pay for an item

I recently won a bid, but did not receive a notice about it...I was just checking on another bid and saw I owed someone $$...please make sure to let me know via email that I have to pay for something

Glitches happen in the messaging system sometimes and it is annoying.

Yet, don't you think you should know 100% what's going on in your account? Bidding, when it ends etc....
