No point in bidding on eBay

If you place a bid and happen to win , so what . The seller , if they are not happy with the price , will not sell you your item. Instead they cancel your bid and relist the item. There is nothing you can do about it. It’s happened to me more than once.

not a fair bidding site

I'm sorry to hear this has been your experience.

Please be assured that sellers who cancel bids or, after the close of an auction, refuse to honour a selling price are, in fact, penalized by ebay for doing so behind the scenes. They don;t stay sellers for long if this is their practice.

Have the sellers given you any reason for their failure to honour the bid or sale?

what if they have a reserve that is not met?

If the Reserve is not met, it doesn’t sell. Sellers aren’t penalized for that but they do pay for the feature.

Don't use Reserves.

They irritate bidders and cost money.

The opening bid on an Auction Listing is a sort of free reserve, since no one can bid less than that amount.

OP -- Ignore Auctions.

Over 80% of eBay listings are Fixed Price.

You can buy, pay and see that the item is in the mail, before an Auction ends.

And the price is the one the seller is willing to accept.

Less than 15% of eBay listings are Auction, and most of those have opted to accept Buy It Now bids.
