Seller sent item but paypal payment is still pending

I recently bought an item and made the payment through paypal like usual. Then a day later i see the payment is still pending on my paypal account. I immediatly contact the seller to ask him how the transaction was looking from his side. He says that everything is looking good and that he will ship the item the same day. Later that day he ships the item and that lets me think the payment went through and everything is ok.

 

Its now been a couple days since i received the item and i receive a message on ebay. He opened an unpaid case on me... I immediatly message him and ask if he made an error when entering his email on his paypal account or something because the payment is still pending ''seller hasn't accepted yet''.

 

He says that the problem comes from his side of the transaction. He's having trouble with his old paypal account and he's trying to redirect the payment to a new account someway or somehow.

 

He knows the problem comes from his side (i think he's an unexperienced seller as he's got 0 feedback) and he should not have sent me the item if he could not get the payment. But i still have an opened unpaid case on me to this day that says i need to pay before the 26 april 2021.

 

What should i do? Let him get his things sorted and not do anything?

You paid.

Payment was showing as pending.

The seller had not accepted the  payment.

He shipped that day.

You received the item.

The seller opened an Unpaid Item case.

 

Unless you pay the Unpaid Item case will become a Strike against your buying account, which can make buying on eBay more difficult.

 

You should go to your PP account and cancel the pending payment.

Be sure to let the seller know what you are doing.

Then, having received his CORRECT PP account number, repay for the item.

Then he can close the UID.
He has his payment, you have your item.

Both can leave feedback.

 

This does sound like an honest mistake, mostly on the seller's side, but he does seem to be working with you.

BTW, many sellers have an automatic Dispute mechanism when payments are not received in a reasonable period. He may not have actively opened the Case against you.
