US Rate Increases for Shipping

As an F.Y.I only.

For anyone planning purchases from US sellers there are currently pending and recent increases for shipping with the assorted US courier systems. Surcharges in certain cases "may" be applicable or be passed on to sellers/and or buyers. Mileage may vary. Please shop accordingly!!  😉

I just re-read the disclaimer on the dot com announcement and realized the following:

When you create a listing using the calculated shipping option, our shipping calculator will automatically update the shipping charge a buyer sees, based on their location, and the details you provide on your package and delivery service. Please check your listings to make sure they include accurate package weights and measurements. In addition:

• eBay Labels are updated as new rates take effect. 

Hopefully eBay dot ca buyers will see similar updated results when the rates increase on Jan 11, 2021 and everything will be correct when creating labels!!

That's the way ebay.ca calculated shipping has worked with any Canada Post increases in the past.

The main problem is when an item sells under the old rate (on Sunday for example) and the Seller ships on Monday using the new rate.

I was just thinking back when the change happened to increase Small Packet and Tracked up to 2 Kg. It took awhile to be officially official.

When you print the label on Sunday and mail it on Monday, there are two possibilities.

The postal clerk will just accept it , stamp it, and toss it in the drawer because there is nothing more to do with the label already on it.

Or.

You put the labelled package in the mailbox and get the Accepted notice from the terminal who are too busy to double check your work.

Labels printed on Sunday (before midnight ET) are fine with the old rate, but if you use stamps for parcels, you will need to wait until Monday (and thus will be hit with the higher rate).

Except in this case it was not fixed for anything using Small Packet Air and sellers are still being charged incorrectly because of the added fuel surcharge that is not being applied. 6 weeks later. Money that will not be refunded by eBay to sellers for their mistake.
