Cannabis crusader Robert Erb is doing his part to legalize herb.
The marijuana advocate from Terrace, B.C., became $25 million richer after winning the Lotto Max jackpot on Nov. 2.
Now, the 60-year-old seasonal construction worker is pledging $500,000 towards the fight to decriminalize marijuana.
"The biggest social injustice I've seen in all my entire lifetime is the criminalization and prohibition of marijuana," Erb told CTV British Columbia on Friday.
Erb told the station he is pledging up to $500,000 to match donations made to Sensible B.C. over the coming months.
On its site, Sensible BC says it is working "to decriminalize the simple possession of cannabis in British Columbia through the Sensible Policing Act.
"The Sensible Policing Act would amend the Police Act, to redirect all police in the province from taking any action, including searches, seizures, citations or arrests, in cases of simple cannabis possession by adults."
Good man.

legalize it though not decriminalize it .. I think dicriminalizing it doesn't do much i mean either way i vote yes but decriminalizing it doesn't put money in the goverment hands to help the economy nor does it stop crimes associated with the business ....
Legalize it is the way to go

Would that donation be tax deductable? IMO that money could benifit more folks immediatly than putting on a horse that walks around the racetrack.

maybe the title should reflect the truth!! I know the truth in most of these threads is hard to come by for some.
he is pledging UP TO $500,000. He will only match donations for a set period of time so if only $1,000 is donated he is only giving $1,000 not $500,000.

I think he nailed it when he said "The biggest social injustice I've seen in all my entire lifetime is the criminalization and prohibition of marijuana."
Police use Cannabis as a reason to drive fear into peaceful people. They use it as a means to criminalize you, destroy your life, search your car, take away your kids, and other endless reasons to hook you for some type of legal or financial trouble. I read a story of a police officer going to someone's door, smelling pot, then attempting to take away his children. The guy ended up dead. How many persons have had their life destroyed from a police officer smelling pot? In that case it cost some kids their father. It's also clear that alcohol causes far worse repercussions for individuals and society.
I do not drink alcohol anymore. I see what it does to people, families, society and I'm not buying it. If I want to relax and take a break from the day to day grind in a way that's not abhorrently health ravaging, I'm labeled a criminal. Liqour is worse than them all. I've seen people do things on booze, they never would when they are sober. Alcohol killed 85,000 people last year. You just don't hear about the that type of crime and destruction from cannabis.
IMO it's a giant govenment scam to drive fear into people, while to keep their alcohol induced crime revenue and justice system wheels turning. Imagine alcohol was prohibited, this world would be a very different place without a doubt in my mind. Alcohol is the real culprit, it brings out the evilest of evil in people, without them even knowing it. Cannabis while detrimental in my mind with overuse, has provided countless artists with inspiration, spiritual guidance, medicinal qualities and a peaceful way to relax without the possibly dire consequence that follows alcohol.
It's depressing to see that there are people in this world, especially current government's who just can't stand to see somebody having the ability to smoke cannabis freely. There is something wrong their brains. They use the argument, "My kids," this and that, all while drinking a glass of wine. There was no shortage of pot floating around in high school, that's for sure. Legalize, and educate. Don't criminalize. This insanity has gone on long enough.
My hat is off to that gentleman, and I may even join their crusade, when the time comes to collect signatures.

A true waste of money. Pot will be decriminalized at some point.
The money would be better used in helping people in need. Donate it to affordable housing for the poor. Donate it to food banks. There are lots of options. If pot users donated 10% of the money they spend on pot, they could raise ten times what Mr. Erb won in total.

I’m not the first person nor will I be the last to stand by my beliefs and be proven right later......
Interesting. I gave you credit for your quotation. I was advised, by ebay, that it was removed at the request of a user. Mnd you, I changed it up a little as I did not want to steal your name.
It was: prior-of-vanity-I-am-the-devil

At the moment there are a lot of people in 'need', for their health. Harper has made it more difficult and expensive for those people to get what they need. It's an herb. Let people help themselves from their own homes, at no expense, with what has been put on this earth for that purpose.

Didn't bother me in the least puck.
Actually, I didn't think it would be you.
I am just curious as to why it got dropped.
Someone out there got it removed.
