Ebay collecting CAD taxes already ?

Hi -
I sold some used items recently (last & this week) and ebay already collected taxes on my items.

Is it supposed to start on July 1st ?

Hi,

If you sold your item to buyer in the US eBay has been collecting taxes for them for a few years now. If you sold to Europe they have been collecting taxes for them since last summer. They shouldn't be collecting taxes to Canadian buyers (yet), that is what is starting in July. Was your buyer(s) from Canada?  That shouldn't be happening yet. They do however charge us taxes on their fees (have for a long time now) maybe that is what you are seeing.

I suspect it is the GST/provincial taxes on eBay fees you are seeing.

The upcoming tax will be on the buyer's purchase and will vary according to the province you ship to. You don't pay that, the buyer does.

You do pay the Managed Payment fee on the customer's ENTIRE payment, which will include the Canadian sales taxes.

I think in was another ebay glitch.  I noticed it on 1 of my sales and I only ship within Canada.
