Hello Tyler,
Thank you for opening the forum.
As of late, there seems to be a major lag with eBay Tracking updating with Canadapost/USPS, etc systems. Quite often if you check tracking it will show in transit but if you were to go directly to the Canadapost/USPS website the item will have already been delivered (Community mailbox/PO Box and then the intended receiver not checking them on a regular, semi-yearly basis 🙂 ) . In rare cases, their package was dropped off on their front step 2 days previously never to be seen from again, but I digress. Most customers are unaware this is what has actually going on with their parcel. Do you have any information as to why eBay tracking is not being updated in real time?

Hello Tyler,
Recently I was doing a search for an item I needed to replace. I usually search by distance/suggested transit time, followed by the price/shipping cost. I found a seller with what I was looking for shipping from Ontario, California but it did not specify a shipping carrier.
When I emailed them this is the response I received:
If shipping to Canada, we can send from China warehouse by SFC express.
Any problems, please contact me again. I will do my best to help you.
Now in checking their feedback page they are physically based in China and appear to use drop shippers from several California locations along with their physical address in China.
This situation has been reported on a recurring basis. Buyers discovering the issues after their completed purchase. Classic bait and switch. Is eBay seriously addressing this situation? Or as a buyer should we take everything stated with a grain of salt?

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies! Tracking should be updating regularly (usually daily). I've seen it get delayed in the past but not for that long. Would you mind shooting me a PM with an example or two so I can get it looked into? Thanks!

Hi @lotzofuniquegoodies - hmmm....this one is interesting.
There's nothing wrong with a seller being located in a different country than their items, as long as that's accurately represented. So in your example, a member located in China but warehousing their inventory in Ontario California, there is no policy violation as long as the items genuinely ship from that location.
If they are advertising their items in California, but then ship directly to you from China, there is an issue with that. Should that happen, you are able to open a return and we would expect the seller to arrange shipping back to them, or otherwise resolve it. We also have processes in place to hold those members accountable and accurately reflect their ship-from location to members.
