40,000 Free Listings - I'm not getting them or any help!

On June 5, I received a message from eBay advising me I could have 40,000 free fixed price listings from June 6-10.

On June 7, I listed 20 items that qualified for the offer.

BUT, all 20 were deducted from my 50 free monthly listings.

So I called customer support a total of four times trying to convince them there was a technical glitch that needed to be corrected. Talk about frustration - off and on it was about four hours of explaining the same stuff over and over. I finally got one supervisor on the telephone and he told me something was wrong with the system, and that my 40,000 free listings wouldn't begin until I had exhausted my 50 free listings. I told him I doubted that very much, but that I would carry on and exhaust my 50 free listings.

He also told me that even if I exceeded my 50 free and kept on listing, I would received credits for the insertion fees I racked up until June 10 because I did qualify for the offer. When I told him I wanted this in writing from eBay, he wasn't ready to comply, saying instead he would monitor my account and call me back when I was charged an insertion free that should have been free under the offer. That occurred on my 51st listing - a fee of 35 cents.

He said he would call back in an hour. It's four hours later, and I'm still waiting.

In the meantime, I phone yet again, asked for a supervisor, waited about 20-30 minutes and finally relented and agreed to another callback. Two hours later, I am waiting for that supervisor to call me.

I think I am going to call back YET again, although I really don't think anything will change or be fixed.

ALSO, the second CS rep I called told me a supervisor would call me BY JUNE 10, the last day of the promotion. Nice, huh?

Three possible reasons why the listings were taken off your 50 "free listings" list:

1) technical error by eBay (bad code)

2) some of them were auction listings (not eligible to this promotion which is for fixed price only)

3) many of the listings were in the " Business & Industrial > Heavy Equipment Parts & Accs" category.  In recent promotions, listings in this category were not eligible for free listings.  The information page from eBay does not mention the exclusion this time but it is possible eBay missed it!

The promo does not seem to be for GTC listings. Did you use fixed price GTC?

None of the listings are GTC - in fact, the promo message from eBay excludes GTC as part of the promo.

The listings that were deducted from my "free 50" were not in business and industrial.

It did happened to me about 6-8 months ago on other account and the customer service said it is a "glitch".  It seems that it is becoming a more common famous wordings by eBay for everything that is wrong with their system, etc, etc., etc.

What is the worst thing is that 6 persons at customer service suggested that I used up 50 free monthly listings and list more listings and will re remiburse them.  I did 10 of them and so far to today, I STILL HAVENT been remibursed.

Apparently it is all about them being lie to us over and over and over, never mind that they "promised" us, etc.

So I wouldn't trust them  unless it is done in writing in black and white and I can see that they were not willing to do that for you, so why the heck should you feel for it.

Those people at the customer service really need to be "fired" as they are not doing very good and it is getting worse.  It seems that the stockholders are okay with that??  Hmm?

Same thing is happening on my account.  I have called, and was told they did not know what to do to fix the "glitch".  I was informed that a note had been made, was given a reference number, and told to follow up in a few days.  Someone else reported this same problem in another thread.
