So I had a remorse buyer send back their item with a tracking number (they had to pay for the return). They uploaded the tracking number. When I recieved the item, I then refunded the money & the case was closed. So today I was checking out my Seller's Dashboard & saw that I had received a late strike for shipping. It says tracking shows late shipment.
I had to phone CS & just waited for over half an hour to talk to someone. Thankfully they saw it wasn't my mistake & promised to reverse the late shippment strike for me. Just a heads up for other sellers to make sure they are not dinged for a return with tracking & receive a late shipping strike.

Thank you for sharing that. It's a pretty glaring glitch in the system if that happens, and other sellers may merely look at their new Late Shipment mark and accept a ding on their record that they don't deserve. Hopefully, it gets fixed.

Tyler fixed the situation I am about to describe for me but I had a similar-but-different Late Shipment Mark arise from sending a replacement order to a domestic buyer via Expedited Parcel when the original wasn't delivered within the Estimated Delivery Date as a result of an insufficient postage error the clerk (yes, clerk and not me; I argued with him at the time but deferred to his position as being the person who should know the price) made when I took it to the counter to mail.
But, yes, because I mailed a replacement order in response to the Item Not Received case, and uploading a tracking number for it outside my stated handling time, I got an automatic Late Shipment Mark. The buyer was not displeased with me, it all ended amiably. And Tyler took care of it for me, for which I am grateful, once I explained to him the circumstances and could demonstrate it wasn't really my fault. Well, it was, sort of. Because I trusted the clerk and not my own knowledge and used an untracked method of delivery. The package did eventually come back about six weeks later with insufficient postage indicated as the reason it was not deliverable.
So in situations where a seller has to mail a replacement item with tracking the seller may also get an automatic Late Shipment Mark on that transaction. I keep wanting to call them 'defects', but they aren't. Defects are serious, these are merely 'marks'.

I also got a late shipment strike a few years ago because I had to resend a parcel to a buyer as he gave me the wrong address. It was returned to me, the buyer still wanted the item & paid for the extra shipping cost. I uploaded the new tracking number for him. And I got a late shipment strike for doing that. Had to phone CS & they removed the strike as they could clearly see that it wasn't my fault.

Right, that's another good example of specific instances where having to add another tracking number to an order will overwrite the first one, you might think the Big Brained Boovs at ebay could simply adjust the software to learn to accept the first tracking number only and ignore all subsequent tracking data on the transaction where the Late Shipment Reports are concerned.

This is definitely a weird situation. I will pass to my product manager for shipping--thank you.
