Canada Post has announced minor price increases for lettermail and letterpost services when paid by postage meter machines.
There will be no change in the price of stamps ($0.85 remains $0.85, etc...).

The fuel surcharge should be going down as well!

Couldn't find anything yet on light packet rates but did read this on the CP website:
Canada Post is making changes to its Light Packet service, beginning in January 2014. Light Packet is an economical service that allows customers to ship small goods up to 500 grams to the U.S. or to an international destination.
To address increased processing costs related to the service, Canada Post will raise Light Packet rates. To mitigate customer impact, the rate increase will be phased in over several years, and will vary depending on weight and destination.
I ship mainly using light packet. Hope the increase isn't too much this year!

"beginning in January 2014."
Those rate increases took place already!

That's a good news/bad news situation.
As I understand it, the current low price of oil and thus gas, is due to the low priced /black market sales of oil by ISIL.
Should these thugs and terrorists be defeated, the price of oil will probably rise.

lol well, I'd rather to have the thugs/terrorists defeated and pay more money in oil and gas prices.

Pierre, yes it was from CP in 2014 but I was referring to this part: To mitigate customer impact, the rate increase will be phased in over several years, and will vary depending on weight and destination.
I guess I am thinking that this means another rate increase in this category?
I hope I'm wrong!

Although we all like to blame everything on the terrorists..lol,I think a quick google will show links for the real reasons for the low prices.
Here's one to start:
