How do I open a case against ebay as my package hasn't updated for 8 days

Bought a package on Oct 6 ,est delivery date is between Nov 19 to Dec 11.My package however hasn't updated for 8 days which I think is the time when it's most likely that the package is lost. Should I open a case and if so how?

You can open an "Item Not Received" claim with eBay the day after the latest estimated delivery date (Dec. 12).

8 days with no updates does not indicate a lost package. If you were given that long of a delivery estimate for a purchase made on Oct 6 then the package is likely coming from China and delivery times can be long.

Is the last tracking showing that the package is leaving or has left the origin country?

It's perfectly normal for there to be no tracking updates for many days, usually the next scan will be when it has been processed in your country.

If you post the tracking number I can have a look.

This is why the Usual Suspects tell buyers not to watch tracking.

It doesn't move anything any faster.
It doesn't make handling any gentler.

It is normally behind the actual location of the shipment.
Sometimes it is wildly inaccurate.

Notes about location and status often use opaque internal jargon.

And because of  spoke and hub delivery systems used by all shippers (and airlines) it doesn't make sense from outside.

Mark the last estimated date for delivery on your calendar.

It will probably arrive before then.

Lessons for online mail order buying.

Don't buy mail order if you have a deadline.

Read the listing to learn what the actual last estimated date for delivery might be.

If the date is too far in the future, buy locally.
