Hi everyone -
The shipping team is in the process of ramping up the new eBay Labels program to everyone. This is a slow ramp over the next few months, but they've told me that they're happy to include anyone who is interested and a 'good fit'.
'Good fit' in this situation means folks with a Canada Post Solution for Small business Level 1 discount. Right now the label platform should receive the same discount as Level 1, with plans to continue growing that in the future (so if you're getting a larger discount from CPC it may not make financial sense at the moment).
Leave a comment below if you'd like me to submit your id to them! They said they'll begin bringing new folks on board starting January 4th. Thanks!

I'd be interested if the rates were even slightly less than the standard discount available to anyone no matter where they print their labels.

I have been on MP about 1 month and now have ebay shipping offered.
In the last week I have sent 2 parcels with ebay shipping.
One was to Canada - does not show my name on the return portion, just ebay selling name
- postage amount was not taken from my MP payments section
- very small label
One was to the USA- does not show my name on return portion
- postage amount was not taken from my MP payments section
- was able to change the label size when completing the customs info
- small packet UR number shows on the label but ebay has entered a tracking
# on my orders page - have no idea what this number is
Both parcels scanned ok at the Post Office.
The postage rates were the same as on Snapship, Shippo and PayPal.
At no point did ebay shipping ask for my Canada Post Small Business Number.
There is no record of the parcels on my Canada Post account website.
I can't find anywhere to check on the shipping paid or any other info on the postage/parcel.
My MP payout is due on Tuesday - perhaps the postage fee will be deducted at that time and the balance sent as a payout. Anybody know?

According to the Spring announcement postage was going to be attached to the monthly invoice as a lump sum. I believe it was mentioned about paying from pending funds. Possibly down the road??
Instead of paying for labels individually at the time of purchase, you will see all your label charges and adjustments as well as cancellation credits on your monthly eBay invoice. You will only see transactions within the invoice period.

I posted on another thread that the label FAQ suggests that if a seller is in MP the label cost will be taken from the pending funds. In the spring there would not have been Canadians in MP yet so that could be why it isn't mention in that link??
Is or will there be a way for MP sellers to use their pending funds for labels?
How do I pay for the labels I purchase on eBay Labels?

If you are activated on Managed Payments, your label costs will be netted from your sales proceeds.

Can anyone tell me who is running the back-end? It is another Pitney-Bowes thing or something different?

The Spring Announcement was for something that was supposed to be released in the Spring. Something that did not happen. As for fees coming from pending funds that would be a reasonable alternative option to being invoiced monthly. Something many will not prefer. Now it seems it has been released without being fully completed. Complete with the immediately reported glitches. Almost better late than never. Without a real discount compared to everything that is already out there, it's not really an improvement. Alternately, without a way to link up one's Personal Small Business account directly from the implementation,(Sellers have dollars already build up) it's basically a step backwards. As if that would be a sort of a "we'll get to it when we get to it", philosophy.

Hi @pjcdn2005 - it was my understanding that pending funds could be utilized to pay for shipping through the eBay label platform as well! If it follows the .com experience, you have to switch your billing agreement on the shipping label page to stipulate that it should take from pending funds.
However, I don't have more specifics on this process. I've requested more info on this but I don't expect to hear back before the 4th.
Thanks!

Just a quick note to any person thinking of using any kind of "shipping solution" offered by this selling/buying format..
DON'T..!
Canada Post Corporation offers all sort of shipping options, getting a small business shipping discount is free to apply for, printing shipping labels are free, either online of visiting a local postal outlet (I have 5 of them all within a 10 minute drive from my front door). They offer a multitude of other free options and even a pick up service for a minimum fee. More than likely you have an outlet close as well.
Anything that e-bay offers is a sham, is just another money grab to line their, or their 'partners' pockets, and to take away from your already slim profit(s). As usual they are leaching off the ill-informed.
Simply go to the Canada Post website to get informed.

Sham - a thing that is not what it is purported to be
Well unless they are saying it’s the only way to buy CP labels, I don’t see how it is a sham.
From what I’ve read, there needs to be improvements to the eBay label platform but it currently gives the same price as online labels for CP tier one small business members so there is a small saving versus buying a label at an outlet or post office. It is meant to give the same service as what we can get with other online platform.
Once it’s working as it should, the main advantage will be that Managed Payment sellers will have the funds taken from the buyers pending payment rather than needing a separate funding source. Hopefully in the future there will be options such as return labels.

As a side note, there is a slight difference to the discount when buying postage online vs at the counter with your Small business discount. You will also see a difference if you have a package returned to sender compared to original postage. It's not substantial but it is different. Also with your card you have the additional access to Expedited Canada vs only Regular/Xpresspost, Priority Post.
From most sellers perspective they are looking for the best available discount for postage.

Pass.
all my sales now take me to ebay labels first so I see what it wants to charge. It is always 1-2 dollars more with ebay vs. Shippo.
