Reminder: Canada Post Parcel Rate Increase in Effect TODAY (June 26, 2025)

New rates for Domestic, USA and International parcel services go into effect June 26th, 2025 for commercial customers who create shipping labels online. All service levels are impacted. There is also an increase in the cost of prepaid products (e.g. Xpresspost envelopes). Flat Rate Boxes will not see an increase, as the price on a few of those just went up last month.

A couple of notes:

  • Canada Post is increasing the number of domestic rate codes from 45 to 128 to provide additional pricing flexibility. This could actually result in decreased rates in high density lanes in major centres. Weighted average price change for domestic shipments is 1%.
  • A new 750g weight step has been added for all Small Packet and Tracked Packet services (US & International). Previously the breaks were 0-100, 101-250, 251-500, 501-1kg; now there is a 501-750g weight break with a price that falls between the two bracketing weight steps.
  • There is actually a price decrease for US Tracked Packet service. Decrease ranges from 3-6% depending on the weight break.

USA Tracked appears to have been updated to the eBay calculator tool and is currently correct. (eBay Labels)

.500 to .750 kg = 10.35 (55% discount)

.750 to 1.00 Kg - 11.19 (54% discount)

1.00 to 1.50 Kg 14.46 (45 % discount)

1.50 to 2.0 Kg 17.78 (40 % discount)

Looks like CP is really trying to scare more customers away!!! Whenever I am at the counter routinely hear "it's that much? Is there anything cheaper?"

Isn't that about what the prices were before? It looks to me like the only change is that they added a tier between 0.5 and 1kg, which should actually make a few shipments a little cheaper.

Personally unsure what the precise previous rates were I use calculated for anything that is parcel size. I do find it interesting that the discount varies.
