On eBay.ca I just sold a coin to a buyer in San Diego, California.
This listing (152176295871) states:
Delivery:
"Canada Post Light Packet USA
Estimated Delivery within 8-13 business days
"Seller ships within 3 days after receiving cleared payment"
Today is August 09.
I understand estimated delivery time includes handling time, but ...
eBay's "Estimated delivery Thursday, Aug 11, 2016 - Friday, Aug 26, 2016"
I have little doubt the item will arrive before Aug 26, 2016.
But even if shipped today, there's no way delivery will happen 2 days from now on Thursday, Aug 11, 2016.
How does that jive with "Delivery within 8-13 business days" & "ships within 3 days after receiving cleared payment"
It doesn't but did yesterday...
Yesterday's sales to U.S:
eBay's "Estimated delivery Thursday, Aug 18, 2016 - Thursday, Aug 25, 2016"

I bring this up over and over. Mine say 4-11 business. Impossible to do. My parcels, at best, leave Canada on the fourth day. Then they get jammed in US Customs, who don't care.
I have even talked face to face with a USPS rep who says there is nothing anyone can do with US Customs.
It has always been like this, it will always be like this.

Definitely mention this at Board Hour tomorrow.
My problem is a shopping cart that is offering free shipping where no such offers exist.
Also, my listings load in the old-style ebay from about three years ago at least half the time.
I would venture that they are tinkering with junk behind the scenes in preparation for the Fall Seller Update. I wish oh wish oh wish they would just leave things alone already, and instead focus their efforts on rectifying what's already broken instead of looking for more things to wreck but R told me last week that I'm (paraphrasing) naive to assume that's how big business works.

This is why I put the shipping date in my feedback left. If I happen to use tracking, I add that too.
I believe that customers are more likely to read their feedback than all those random emails from eBay.

Oh yes, I suspect that's exactly what's going on. In fact my joke over the years has been that we can almost extrapolate from the weird new glitches that pop up in August and January what areas are likely to be the subject of the next Seller Update.
As for R's comment about big business, I think it was nothing but an excuse for less than stellar management by his novelty-addicted bosses. Administration and maintenance is boring to high-flying tech types and unappealing to demanding shareholders.
The truth is, eBay's site has almost never worked properly and reliably for more than a few weeks at a time, and has had serious flaws that have gone uncorrected for months or years. I wouldn't say that's the case with other, comparable big online businesses. And I personally wouldn't say it's a great model to aspire to either. Unfortunately, R. closed off the session before I could say so.
