VIEW ITEM in Feedback

Is it my browser or has eBay taken away the VIEW ITEM feature that has been there for some time when one browes a member's feedback.     In summary, am I correct is saying we no longer see closed auction items in ones Feedback?

Several discussions on this topic are taking place (on and off e-Bay). Here is the question I posted on this a few days ago:

http://community.ebay.ca/t5/Buying-on-eBay/View-Item-link-is-no-longer-displayed/qaq-p/155363

Apparently, the item ID and View Item link on Feedback pages are only visible to the buyer and seller of the transaction. As usual, the item ID is displayed with your feedback but, after 90 days, the View Item link is no longer displayed.

Re: VIEW ITEM in Feedback

Thanks for the response....Now I know why I didn't know about this.....it was private info.

I just don't understand these changes that TURN OFF sellers and buyers who are the bread and butter of this business.

I can see why thousands have been looking and turning to alternate sites to do their business.    Maybe somebody will come up with the brainwave of "letting us see the info. for a price"........like 10%          Frustrated and I've been a Member for 14 years.

Re: VIEW ITEM in Feedback

Some of the items I've unintentionally come across (honest!) on ebay, whether they be new or old SHOULD be left as "private!" rolleyes.gif

Complete waste of time leaving feedback!
FEEDBACK IS NOW IRRELEVANT, will eBay soon follow!

Re: VIEW ITEM in Feedback

I want the feedback SHOWING the ITEM! this is a huge  aspect of selling!  IF Some sellers want to Make thier listings  PRIVATE as some have ..then LET THEM!! I intentionally made my listings open so everyone can see what someone purchased from me. I get people asking me about previously sold Items..and Many of those items I can REMAKE since I do handmade Items and OOAK items.

If some Buyers dont want people to see what they are buying..then they would make thier feedback Private! Who the hell thought this was a good idea to just make all Feedback Items private?  Now there is NO POINT in leaving FEEDBACK at all!  I for one would not buy from a seller with Private listings.

Re: VIEW ITEM in Feedback

I agree 100% and I don't have a problem with "private" but really what is the purpose of Feedback now; just a number.

And with no inability to neg.  a buyer shows how they are protected.   eBay was Great and can be but it's deteriorating big time.

Re: VIEW ITEM in Feedback

Another questionnable change from eBay.  I often bought directly from those links or at least found interesting items instead of going through the store which I virtually never use.  It also helped me determined if I would buy an item or not based on other buyers feedbacks.

What's the next step now, making all sales private?

Really starting to loose my confidence buying on eBay and I don't feel like leaving feedbacks anymore.

"I just don't understand these changes that TURN OFF sellers and buyers who are the bread and butter of this business."

Few individual buyers and sellers understand the changes.  At the end of the day, eBay today is not eBay from yesteryear.  The new type of sellers eBay has been gaining are large multinationals coming here to sell, sell and sell.  They do not care one bit about feedback, DSRs, TRS, and do not waste their time checking anyone's background.  It is irrelevant to them: marketing through eBay is just a number game.

They sell one million items, lose 2%-3% to fraud and abuse (about the same percentage as large retailers to shoplifting and pilferage), make their money and keep doing it until it is no longer profitable.  Then they will find another venue to market their wares in addition to what they are already doing.
