Dear eBay Sellers,
This is an incredibly challenging time and we want you to feel confident selling. To that end, we want to ensure that you are aware of the resources provided by eBay to support your selling activities and provide other resources you can use to do your own business research.
Here are some suggestions and measures you can take to manage the current situation:
- Review our announcements regarding COVID-19 and connect with other members on our dedicated Community Page
- Visit shipping carriers’ websites for timely information on changes and updates to their services. Note that all shipping carriers within Canada have been deemed essential by the government. Domestic deliveries are continuing as usual, with slight variations on their signature required processes. We advise you to monitor all major carriers' websites to stay up to date with the latest policy changes and make necessary adjustments to your listings.
- Connect with fellow sellers on the COVID-19 Community Hub, and keep an eye on the Announcement Board page for updates from eBay.
- To manage buyer expectations, consider increasing your handling time. Canada Post and shipping couriers will continue to operate as “essential businesses” and deliveries continue to be roughly on time to all major corridors.
For Sellers with a store:
- To help with your cash flow, we’re offering to defer most selling fees for eligible Store subscribers for 30 days. If you could use this support, apply here.
- To help with your costs and allow you to bring additional inventory to eBay, Store subscribers can now list 50,000 additional fixed price listings free in March and 50,000 additional listings free in April.

So far provinces and municipalities are allowing ecommerce businesses to continue operating and, in fact, online businesses are now even more important to the economy as physical stores have had to close their doors. We encourage you to review your local guidelines and, if appropriate for your location and your business, to continue selling online. In many cases, this is now the only way consumers can get the goods they are looking for.
Thank you for selling on eBay. We encourage you to continue doing so to sustain your business through this period of uncertainty.
