1 cent listings - Can you smell the desperation at HQ ??

Wow, 1 cent listings. It's amazing what a whole lot of bad PR, lower stock prices, competition and "NOISE" can bring.
Personally, I think, rather than giving the product away to create site traffic, Ebay should just up and admit that trying to double their take by end loading fees isn't fooling anyone, and revert to the previous fee schedule.
While they are at it, they should admit that one way feedback is a dud too, and scrap that idea.
I used to be a baker, and one thing I know, is that if no one would buy the pie, you don't sell it for a penny. You improve the pie, in a hurry.
Does any one who works at Ebay understand the relationship between customer satisfaction and profits? They would not be in the desperate situation they are in, if they hadn't made so many poor decisions in the past.
Ebay, if you have to give your product away for a penny for a whole week to have customers, what does that tell you about your product??
But what do I know, I've only had 2600 happy customers versus 7 unhappy ones in 4 years of selling.

Well Ebay's lsiting count has risen from 12 million listings on March 24th to 17 million listings tonight.

So they get $50,000 dollars in listing fees for those 1 cent listings.

Now if most were paying about 35 cents to list an item before, they should have gotten 1 million 750 thousand dollars for those listings.

So, they spent 1.7 million to lure sellers back and repair their bad PR and shore up the miserable stock price.(It's also up.)

The best part is, with final value fees having been raised, they will rake it in hand over fist when those listings end.(getting more than 1.7 million back I'm sure)

They can end their quarter and tell their shareholders that listings stand at their highest point in a year.

Gotta hand it to the spin doctors, for now, they have very succesfully wallpapered over their problems.

It's an exciting time at Ebay. 2 - 20 cent listing promos in February, 1 cent listing for a week in March.

What other generous gifts are coming in April.

I look forward to the next rabbit, they pull out of their hat in May to offset the deluge of fleeing sellers put out by the feedback changes coming.

It had better be a really good one!!!!

Stay tuned.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. I've listed 37 items so far during 1 cent week. So I've saved: $5.46

Whoopee!!!

On the plus side though, I've moved most of my sales(about 95%) off Ebay the past two months, and my Ebay invoice this month is $42.00 down from $300-$400. Last month's bill was $37.00.
